Hello, welcome to our beautiful Brainerd Lakes area. I hope your visit to our area is safe and enjoyable; and you catch some fish too! I have been fishing and hunting on Minnesota lakes and forests all my life. I love fishing and hopefully you will love fishing with me.
I am married and have three children. I grew up in a small town named Swanville, MN as a turkey farmer’s son. I graduated from Swanville in 1978 and went to Brainerd Community College and Mankato State University to get my BS Degree in Business Education and Coaching. We ended up in Brainerd when I was working for a major snack food company and left from there to pursue my passion of teaching. I received my Masters in Education from Southwest State University and a Mathematics Specialty from St. Cloud State University. I presently teach in ISD 181 Brainerd at Forestview Middle School as a 6th grade mathematics teacher.
I have been guiding in the Brainerd Lakes Area since 2004. I also donate guide for Camp Confidence in their annual fishing benefit and also had the pleasure of guiding for the 2008 Minnesota Governors’ Fishing Opener at Breezy Point Resort in the spring of 2008 and the MN Governor’s Opener on Gull Lake at Grand View Lodge.
If you are a novice, amateur, or just a beginner fisherperson, fish with me and I will show you some techniques that have helped me to continuously put fish in my boat. My philosophy on teaching fishing is the same as teaching mathematics in a classroom. “Work hard and do the best job possible that anyone could ask for to those you serve”.
